Who could have thought "banh xeo" was so tasty and antiaging!!
If you like exotic food, chances are you know a Vietnamses food called "banh xeo." It can be pronounced as "bun sale." It was made of some mung bean flour stuffed with shrimp, onions, green onions, lean pork, and mung beans. Mung beans are a type of legume, which are high in protein and fiber.
That was what I had for lunch last Sunday. Boy was it tasty and delicious.
Since "banh xeo" is traditionally eaten with lettuce and herbs, it can be considered as a healthy meal. There are a variety of herbs I ate. They tasted great; however, I only recognized one type: mint leaves.
Mint leaves are known to assist with digestion and heartburn. Some studies also say that mint leaves can also help in relieving stress and anxiety that is usually responsible for our fast aging. If anyone knows of the benenfits of eating herbs, please inform us.
I had 4 "banh xeo" with a full plate of lettuce and herbs. I ate it with some Vietnamese sauce called "nuoc mam" which is low calorie.
The picture of "banh xeo" is included here. The lettuce and "nuoc mam" sauce are also shown to the right.

looks like a very interesting meal. eating herbs can benefit your health in many ways, then again, it can also be harmful. I am a doctor of oriental medicine.. with that in mind, not all herbs are good for all people. it depends on what state of balance, the body is in. how ever, in general, chlrophyl rich foods help to clean the blood, boost the blood, and destress the liver. one of the major keys to anti aging, is keeping your biological processes functioning well. the problem is most people only pay attention once there is failure. there are simple non invasive tests that can tell you what state you are in and what needs attention. In general, herbs such as fennel, parsley, freshly ground black pepper, aid digestion, as does pickled vegetables, pinapple, cucumbers, etc..
depending what is out of balance, these will have varying degrees of effectiveness
Wow it's yummy too.....
looks good retin-a

I have heard that when a person crinkles their face all the time, it can create really deep lines and wrinkles. I'm wondering if eating certain foods can reverse the signs of aging. I got some good information at http://www.chicagowrinklereduction.com
but it diddn't say a ton about eating food. I'll check back with your blog to see if anyone posts it.
Randy,
From your description, banh xeo does sound very delicious. I have a few Vietnamese friends and I'm surprised they haven't told me about this dish before. Thanks for the interesting information!
